Surprise For Her Husband!

Updated: Jan 26, 2020

Thanks to a Google search, Rose found me, the artist to make the couple's anniversary complete! She wanted to surprise her husband Chris with a super special present to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. They honeymooned here that many years ago and have visited in between, but this was the celebratory trip to mark their fantastic journey together. And they wanted a painting, on Wailea Beach, an everyday couple doing the extraordinary-asking for an affordable but out-of-the-box present to themselves- they earned it!

They were staying in south Maui on this leg of the island-wide trip, to commemorate the occasion. What fun! We talked about the theme, time of day, location and their presence on the beach by email.

I sketched out a preliminary idea to see if they liked it. I met them at the beach and took some reference shots and got a chance to know them in person, so personal and fun!

I took some live photos as they strolled. As it can happen, the sunset was a dud that night, but subsequent nights were fantastic, so I went to work!

They liked the way I captured the sunsets' vibrant colors and wanted that in their painting. I added in the 25 flowers in the lei on the rocks to commemorate the occasion and let my colors flow with the rhythm of the sunset and waves. The result was a delight to me and them. When Rose opened the box, she sent me an email to let me know it arrived! "Aloha Diane, We received the painting today. It's beautiful! We LOVE it! We feel like we have a little piece of Maui here in our home. It was so great meeting you. Mahalo nui loa for everything! - Rose and Chris" My day was complete. This is why I paint.

Rose and Chris titled the painting, "Wailea Beach Sunset - 25th Anniversary" 16 x 20 oil on canvas.

Let me paint your paradise- here in Maui or a location you treasure.

If you would like a #romantic Hawaiian #honeymoon original #commissioned oil #painting then please contact me for pricing. I will take your special moment in paradise and immortalize it as an oil painting for your bride or groom.
