Art has always been a part of my life. If these paintings have a mission, it is this: capture rarely viewed scenes that happen in a tiny moment, feel the environment  of Hawaii, Maui warm air, hot sunshine, tropical landscape and seascape, a simple breeze  or brisk trade winds and present them in a compelling way. Create a sense of the place in time in my window of the world.

 

It may be a sentinel tree on an isolated hill or beach, or the beach itself alive with movement, or the vibrantly lit surface of the clouds at sunset. Whatever the locale, on the best of days these images will stir up unexpected feelings and thoughts in the viewer.

 

As an artist my work is done in my studio and plein air. Plein air painting has helped my skills through direct, critical visualization.  I am still learning what to include in the painting to set the stage and what to leave out to tell the best story.  ​Go for a walk with me and see my vision through my original art paintings.​
