It started as a Facebook message- from someone I did not know. Not a big surprise since I have my artist site open to anyone to view and email me. Some are buyers of art, some are looking for a painting buddy while in Maui. But the message was the showstopper: "N Zrolka 1938". I responded immediately! People told me just paint! Ok, but I had a job, other than painting. Could I do both? Could I do it in Maui? All things are possible sometimes. It was a strange feeling to have a one way ticket in your pocket and a new adventure ahead. My husband and I became "shipwrecked" on Maui, setting up a new household and me a new studio. My determination was apparent and my wonderful husband supported my passion in oil painting to really learn Plein Air and create my own vision of the world. Christmas brought me a gift. Classes with a well know artist who works in France and the San Francisco Bay area were set up for me from my husband as Christmas gift. Brigitte Curt was found, and had openings in her winter Plein Air classes. She taught us how to be portable, paint outside in the elements, and use the be
