One rainy day at the end of January we decided on a walk and then a picnic, hoping the rain that just let up would not start again..  We grabbed some take out and went to our favorite whale look-out beach to see what we could see.  After a cloudy evening, the clouds started to part as the sun set.  A few whales breached along the horizon. But the real show was the sunset. Each minute the color got more and more intense. I snapped some photos and did a quick sketch, memorizing the colors. This was the result - I started the oil painting the very next day!  11 x14 inches, ready for a home, now dry.
