A new group bought Gannon's and Hali'imaile General Store. (Bev Gannon's children as she called them) and Gannon's was a classic spot on the golf course in Wailea; we were frequent diners. We did not know what to expect with this new operation.
Name not changed yet, remodeling complete...the buzz was in the air- we went with son Justin to try it out for the first time.
New bar - no more RED Bar! Nice! and the food was different and tasty.
They are making a huge effort to make a new and welcoming spot for folks to "gather" welcoming all feedback, actually requesting a lot of feedback. Refreshing.
We decided to go again to try a lunch- celebrating our anniversary and a friend's birthday. We had a view overlooking the course and the ocean with Molokini in the view. Burgers and Gourmet Tacos were a hit! As was attentive, efficient service.
But wait! There's more!
To celebrate their completed changeover they threw a party!
Gather on Maui invited people on their guest list (and food reviewers- me) from Gannon's restaurant over the years and John and I were included; of course a few of our best friends found their invitations as well.
Here I am with Graeme Swain, CEO of the restaurant group which has legendary restaurants in other prominent places. It was a great party; we all thanked him and for the efforts of the staff and chefs to bring us special tastings of the main course dishes of the restaurant. It was good, more than good. Over the top delicious. May I add they served Stags Leap Chardonnay? You had me at Chardonnay.
Food is an art. So is a good place to gather. Here's to Gather on Maui for bringing farm to table dining to a new level and hosting this artist and her roadie. Give them a try when you are next on island. Let them know what you think.
New restaurant group bought #haliimaile and #gannons calling it #GatheronMaui a #farmtotable #restaurant and we dined there enjoying a #greatview and a #party with #hundreds of our #bestfriends. #Stagsleapchardonnay was the icing on the cake for me.
