It's a Process ...

A collector decided they loved one of my paintings that was a work in progress.
That's where this story starts. Next steps? Do they like my plan for the painting? I showed them my sketches and we picked whales, honu, and a brighter sunset. Fishermen? No, they watch the boats at Molokini, so how about a sailboat?

We have a plan! The original will be out of the budget but we have a solution. I'll create a limited edition giclee for them. Here's the process.

Finish the painting! OK !
Approved! Ok!
When dry the painting and I head to the photographer
A final digital file is created to be used as the base for the print on canvas that I will enhance and create their finished painting. This is done side by side with the original.

The stretched canvas arrives in my studio and I get to work adding texture and customizing with the addition of little touches that will make it their own. And as always, under the scrutiny of my cat, Lilikoi.

When dry, the art work ships out and is ready to hang when taken out of the shipping box.
Final limited edition giclee 30 x 40 ready for my collector, a custom painting just for them and their memories of Maui.

The process takes at least three weeks, but it is well worth the wait!
