Driving on the east side to Hana, halfway point is Keanae peninsula. I painted this scene plein air with the rain starting and stopping and the waves spraying water up on the road where I sat. The view is looking back along the road to Hana from where you came and shows the undulations of the coast that the road has to follow as it meanders along to Hana. Bursts of sunlight create the aqua shimmer in the water highlighted against the black lava rocks. It was my first time down that road and seeing the sight for the first time. The scenes were so amazing that I had a hard time deciding where to start.
